As part of the social service programs offered, the EPort Seniors Zone serves as a place for seniors to meet, socialize and obtain much needed resources. The EPort Seniors Zone offers an opportunity for seniors to gather and enjoy friendships.
The Zone offers organized workshops on various resources such as diabetes screening, CPR training for seniors, and much more. Seniors meet on Thursday for a warm home cooked meal at the EPort Seniors Zone. Also, we recently started a Spanish speaking club that meets several times a month.
In addition to social activities and workshops, the EPort Seniors Zone provides outreach services and is a life saving program where staff conducts visits to home-bound seniors and provide transportation services for various items such as social services buildings, doctors visits. The outreach program serves nearly 500 low-income/no-income seniors annually by helping them apply for health benefits, utility assistance, affordable housing, and other local resources. Spanish/English translation services are offered to clients in need of access services but cannot read, write, or speak English.
